Top Harry Potter? Not Even Voldemort Could Do That!
The U.S. publisher of Harry Potter thinks they can top J.K. Rowling’s masterpieces The Harry Potter series, like that’s even possible. They say it’s for children from ages 8 to 12, but….why? I mean if they want it to be another hit shouldn’t it be for most all ages? That’s what was so great about H.P.! It was for everyone!
The 39 Clues Is suppose to encourage non-readers into reading, but what if they don’t pick up the book? Hmmmm? Why, if they hate reading, would they pick up the book in the first place!? The only reason the would, would be if they were forced to read and, I don’t know about you, but I don’t like to read books if I am forced to. You know what I’m saying?
Are you looking forward to the new release or do you think everyone will just compare it to Harry Potter and be disappointed?

Well S.V.D. I think it’s pretty well know that I’m not a big reader, but because you brought this to my attention…I am intrigued to check it out!
And nice job on the articles…you’ve been taught well!
I’ve got to agree that unless you want to read something it’s awfully hard to force yourself to finish an entire book. Possibly if they had some kind of movie I would be more interested. Harry has such a broad appeal I think it will be hard to top.
I have not read the HP series but my grandchildren have and from what they tell me, no one will top JK anytime soon. Keep sharing your insights, SVD, I’m sure you speak for a large audience of readers!
Well, I am not a big reader at all myself. But I have read the HP series and I was hooked. It has gotten me into other books so, I don’t think it will top HP. But those who have read HP might also read this.
I’m always open to new books since I am the Book Addict! However, Harry Potter will be hard to beat. And admittedly young people hate to be forced to read, but honestly, in the end most will be glad they were. Reading is such a rewarding experience!
HP was what got my little bro into reading which helped me introduce him to the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit which are great stories of thier time….
As the media specialist of a middle school and a high school, I applaud the idea of book that will get kids fired up about reading. However, I think that Rowling will find it hard to begin a new series or even publish a new book this soon after the end of the Harry Potter series. To use a baseball analogy: She hit a home run with her very first at bat and it will be difficult to do better than that the next time up. I share the author’s love of the 7 books; they were the most entertaining YA books I have read in a long time. I enjoyed the passion and point of view of the author. I will buy the new book for my media center, but I don’t expect it to do the “business” that Harry Potter did.
Very well said, I agree
Perceptive understanding of the economics of book publishing and book selling. I hope the new series gets kids to read and I am sure that many will buy the book on the strength of the Rowling name.
