Hallee Hirsh stars in this romantic comedy as Kate a young girl who has turned 16 and has never been kissed. The movie centers around the ice-cream stand Kate works at along with friends, Darby, Rene, and Louise who is Kate’s boss, but also acts like a mother to her. Darby finds it hard to believe that Kate has never been kissed and is on a mission to find someone to kiss her by the end of the night. Behind Kate’s back Darby calls up everyone Kate knows and asks them if they know of any boys that Kate could kiss as she was turning 16 and had never been kissed. Darby is discovering her sexuality and seems to be free with it – she expects a little more of the same behavior from Kate which causes a little ruffle in the girls relationship.
Rene is a young, handsome friend who doesn’t seem to be very interested in Kate yet protective of her at the same time. Kate turns to Rene to ask him his opinion on any potential love interests that stop by the stand.
Louise is Kate’s boss and also acts as a motherly figure to both Darby and Kate who lost her mother to cancer when she was young. The portrayal of mother and daughter by Kate and Louise is touching. Louise seems like a very caring person, but she is sad, more than likely because she doesn’t have the relationship with her son that she would like to have.
The end of the movie brings learned lessons on the part of everyone and something Kate will probably never forget – her first kiss.
I would say overall, “16 To Life” is an enjoyable movie for all ages. Whether you are young or old everyone can relate to this movie probably in more ways than one.

I was at the premiere and it was hilarious. Not only was it hilarious, the theater was PACKED to the limits and beyond. If this film doesn’t get picked up for distribution, then it’s a sign that too many souls have been sold to the devil and the end is near.

Hi Christina. I have a 16-year old daughter who has yet to get her first kiss. I think this would be a fun movie for us to watch together.

  • Jessica said:

Not that she looks exactly like her but Hallee Hirsh reminds me of Chloe Sevigny. This movie looks pretty funny.

Any movie about sexual angst is bound to be funny. My friend went to the premiere in Agoura Hills and said that it was great.

  • Vanessa Martinez said:

Oh I agree this movie looks really funny. I actually watched the whole trailer without even taking my eyes off of it. When does it come out?

  • Xandria Phillips said:

I will watch anything with Theresa Russell in it, she is a great actress and among my favorites.

Hey Christina. I got your email right as I was leaving work so I just waited until I got home. I have a teenage sister who has also never been kissed (she is almost 18) so I think her and I should maybe watch it together as a sister thing. Thanks for sharing! Definitely looks worth watching :)

  • Lailani said:

What a great cast I wouldn’t mind seeing this and I agree with who ever said Hallee Hirsh resembles Chloe Sevigny I think so too.

It’s funny that a few of you should say that in regards to the similarity between Chloe Sevigny and Hallee Hirsh as I was thinking the same exact thing while watching the movie. I should note that my 7-year-old watched it as well and he enjoyed it too. I couldn’t believe that he actually sat there and watched it with me, but he did. It’s funny because he was sitting on the floor and his attention was taken away for a few seconds by our cat who was clawing at my bed. He was telling her no when he asked me “Is she about to get her first kiss?” and I said “yes, how did you know?” and he says “by the music” it was cute.

Why should I have to choose between a short life with romance, or a long one without? The long one without would be miserable, and if I had a wonderful romance with someone and my life was cut short, it would make it miserable for my partner. It’s not fair.

As far as never being kissed, or otherwise, by a certain age, I think that kind of thing should not be pressured. For those of us more “experienced”, imagine how wonderful it would have been for the love of your life to be your first kiss and love experience? It would be worth removing all memories of past bad experiences, in my opinion.

It’s funny how so many parents THINK their child hasn’t been kissed, and yet will find out at about 20 that they were kissed in Kindergarten. Though I didn’t really find much humor in this, I do think it would be a cute movie to watch. I think she didn’t quite appear innocent enough and the pig tails and the pink mini didn’t fool me enough into finding the adult humor in the innocents of a teen trying to break out of her shell. Though the realism in it was a bit off the edge, it still did appear to be a quite entertaining movie.

I loved this film, I was to go to the little town where they shot it. SO quaint. I fell in LOVE with the characters immediately! Rene the cooke is my favorite I think, he was very funny and cute. AND how hilarious was the Russian chick. She is actually not even Russian at all, her name is Emily Foxler, great actress, she turned up the TV show based on the movie called “Crash”. Also the lead, Hallee was just on ER, she is a star on the rise for sure!! The music was great. They should put out a soundtrack!!!!
