Mischa Barton Is Not ‘Just Fine’
As Julie recently reported, Mischa Barton had returned back to work on “The Beautiful Life,” just two days after a stint in the psyche ward under an involuntary 5150 hold.
Just as Julie, myself, our commenters, and anyone with even 1/16th of a brain and knowledge of what was going on with Mischa presumed, it wasn’t a good idea.
Considering Mischa was returning to work on a show where she had to act out situations that were negatively affecting her mentally, emotionally, and physically in her actual life I don’t see how the following recent statement from her friend is surprising:
“There still are issues. She’s on the verge of another breakdown — one I think could be even more serious than the last one. … she cries for no reason. Mischa’s just not herself at all. I think she’s gone back to work too soon.”
Really, you think?
I think it’s so sad that here we have a young girl who is obviously having a problem and we have the costars and publicists of the show saying she’s handling things ‘just fine’. Just fine? She was just released out a hospital under a 5150 hold. Do these people not know what that means? Since they obviously don’t a 5150 hold is ‘the act of involuntarily confining a person deemed to have a mental disorder that makes them a danger to him or her self, and/or others and/or gravely disabled.’
So she’s deemed to have a mental disorder and to be a danger to herself and society by a professional doctor and some peon celebrity expects me to believe she’s ‘just fine’ two days later? Hogwash.
I’m not trying to be rude here, but I think we can all agree that Mischa’s career was flushed down the toilet when The O.C. ended. I think we can also agree she isn’t a very good actress. I think she needs to give it a break, go somewhere and rest and get herself better.
The producers of the show shouldn’t have to be told that Mischa needs to be replaced for her own good. It’s just too bad most people involved are looking out for the good of themselves when a life is possibly at stake here. I was going to say they should be ashamed of themselves, but I know they aren’t. The thought of replacing Mischa for her own good opposed to keeping things rolling and making money isn’t even a thought in any of their heads. This is a matter of the show going on and sadly for Mischa, in the eyes of everyone involved in The Beautiful Life, her personal problems don’t matter nor do they need to be dealt with in a proper manner.
I can’t help but think we’re going to end up with another Britney Spears type situation on our hands.
I hope for Mischa’s sake she does whatever she has to do to get herself back to her own idea of a great life.
Best of luck Mischa.

Great article and I agree. Mischa really needs to be taking some private time and getting herself back to health. No one in their right mind can say her doing this show at this time in her life is a good idea. I like what you said about the people involved with the show she’s doing not caring. Not that I like it, but I agree and I think its sad. Get better Mischa.
That is the problem with show business…it’s all about numbers. There’s never time to let a person take the time they need to heal, etc. And then celebs have to worry that if they take the time needed, will they be forgotten? It’s so very fleeting…fame!
Poor Mischa Barton. She really needs to be taking time off getting better. These issues aren’t going to be able to be properly resolved in the Hollywood limelight.
[...] Mischa Barton is, but this time I am on her side. It may be the first time, actually, its the second time now that I think about it. Hey Paris Hilton had her day, why not Mischa? *Spencer Pratt can forget [...]

Life & Beauty Weekly: Expert Q+A
A: "This sort of kindness is rare, so it’s natural you’d want to reciprocate. But if you have offered to repay (or treat) her and she resists, there’s no need to insist on giving her money.
Also try not to feel bad that she always pays. Coffee isn’t a big expense, and it sounds like she enjoys treating you. She may do it because she appreciates your friendship or support at work. Or perhaps she likes having an excuse to get out of the office and doesn’t mind shelling out a few extra dollars for you. Regardless, just thank her each time she pays. Then, every once in a while, surprise her with a tin of cookies or muffins. Or once a month or so, tell her you are taking her out for lunch. "

Men’s Life Today: Expert Q+A
A: "There’s no easy answer as to why you get them. Ingrown hairs are more noticeable in men with really thick hair -- as ingrown hairs are more prevalent in people with thick hair -- or dark hair with light skin. However, there are a couple of key things you can do to heal them and prevent future outbreaks.
First of all, it helps to understand the evolution of an ingrown hair: After hair removal, as the hair starts growing back, the sharp tip of the hair curls back in on itself and digs into the skin, leading to inflammation and irritation. If you do get one, remember this mantra: Put down the tweezers. Plucking ingrown hairs invariably fails and causes additional irritation. Instead, try applying an over-the-counter cortisone cream to help relieve inflammation, then head to a laser dermatologist for laser hair removal (no, not removal of all your hair -- just the problem ones). Realistically, laser’s the only long-term solution for ingrown hairs.
Electrolysis isn’t practical because of the number and thickness of hairs involved. And as for waxing, well, remember the 40-year-old Virgin? Enough said."
