Nelson Telling Mom He's Gay courtesy of Oy Vey My Son Is GayI had the pleasure of being invited to watch the premiere of Oy Vey My Son Is Gay this weekend in my home town of West Hollywood and I would definitely suggest you go out and watch this movie too. Some people may be thrown off by the title, but don’t assume things, the movie has no sexual scenes or suggestions whatsoever. The movie is about two Jewish parents who have a son named Nelson (played by John Lloyd Young). All Nelson’s mother (Lainie Kazan) wants is for her son to find a nice Jewish woman to settle down and be happy with, she wants it so badly she invites random women over every Friday in an attempt to help Nelson find the girl of his dreams. All Nelson wants is for his mother to really listen to him for just a minute and she would know she didn’t need to put all that effort in to the Friday night get-togethers because Nelson has already found the person of his dreams, but that person is not a she, its a he, Angelo Ferraro (played by Jai Rodriguez). The movie goes on to display hilarious acts as to how and when Nelson breaks it down to his parents that he is gay, how they react, and ultimately how they come to the conclusion that if they want their son in their life they’re going to have to accept him for who he is unconditionally. I thought the movie made its point very tastefully, ‘love is love’. I think we all need to be accepted and allowed to love who we choose without criticism.

Kudos to everyone involved with the movie on a job well done!
