Ever since their last dispute back in July of 2008 there has been an impassable wedge between Christian Bale and his mother, Jenny, and sister, Sharon. The dispute has resulted in a complete lack of communication on Christian’s part his mother says.

“He’s not talking to us, it’s not the other way round. He has changed his phone numbers, and he ignores the letters, emails and birthday cards I send. As awful as that night was, and although I rack my mind every day about what could have made him behave like that, I’d happily forget it happened if we could go back to being a family. That’s the most important thing. We miss Christian terribly. But it’s been more than 18 months now and it’s hard to see how this will ever end.”

Recalling back to their last interaction together where Christian had them thrown out of his suite at the lavish Dorchester hotel shortly before The Dark Knight premiere she shares:

“He just exploded with anger like I have never seen. He never gave us a chance to find out what it was all about before he frog-marched us out of his suite. He had his face to mine and he was bellowing and swearing about how I never called or emailed. His wife, who I have met a few times and always got on with, was standing across the room. I kept asking her, ‘Why is he doing this?’ but she just shrugged. I was shaking. It was so frightening. It didn’t make any sense. It probably went on for about ten minutes before he physically marched us out of the room and into the lift.”

The way I heard it is Christian’s mother and sister only act like he’s alive when they need money. The night of the premiere Jenny and Sharon showed up and allegedly asked for $100K to help Sharon with her children. Now I wasn’t there so I have no idea if that’s what actually went down, but that’s what reportedly happened and if it did I understand where Christian is coming from. Who wants anything to do with people who only want something to do with you when they need something? The real question in my mind is does Jenny really miss her son or does she miss the money with which he comes fully equipped?

Either way I never had parents or people who were even parent like figures so it really makes me feel sad to know a mother and son aren’t getting along, especially when its over money. While I hope they can eventually work things out for now Jenny relies on the world wide web for updates on her son’s life.

“I search for pictures of him on Google just to see how he is. Sometimes he’s pictured with his daughter, and I get to see how she’s growing. If I want to know what’s going on in his life, I have to read the headlines. What if something terrible happens and I have to find out about it in a newspaper? I’m his mum and he’s my little boy.”

As sad as it is to say, it sounds like its a little too late to care, at least in Christian’s eyes. Hopefully one day this family will be able to fix what’s broke.
