Jessica SimpsonOn March 9, Jessica Simpson premiered her new single, “Who We Are,” on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show in Los Angeles. On the show, Simpson spoke with Seacrest about writing the song after traveling the world and seeing the many different women who live in it.

“I was so moved by the eight cultures I explored for my new show. The women I met were so incredibly different in their customs and traditions but there was a common thread between them in their beauty. I was inspired to write the theme song for the show to reflect what I observed- that there is a unique beauty that lies within each of us, flaws and all. Our hearts, our souls, our passions are what make us each beautiful.”

She co-wrote the single with Evan Bogart, Shari Short and Billy Corgan (The Smashing Pumpkins)—her latest rumored fling. Kerry Brown produced the song.

Corgan recently told Rolling Stone Magazine: “Sometimes people just like being around each other, and good things come out of that. … If people knew her like I knew her, they would love her like I do.”

Simpson was traveling the world, filming her new docu-reality series, “Jessica Simpson’s The Price of Beauty,” set to air on VH1 and debut next Monday, March 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. “Who We Are” will serve as the show’s theme song. It is now available for download with a portion of the proceeds going to the pop star’s movement “A Beautiful Me.”

For “The Price of Beauty,” Simpson will explore fashion trends, traditions and how beauty is seen through different countries like Thailand, France, India, Japan and Brazil. Though I wasn’t completely won over by her first single since her 2008 foray into country music, I hope she finds success in her TV venture.

I didn’t even know she was going to have a new show til yesterday, so I’m VERY excited for it…but not so much for her new music, after this! Maybe it will be a cute theme song, but I hope the rest gets better.
